Conference: Call for Papers
BASEES-UACES Joint EU-Russia Research Network
CALL FOR PAPERS:
THE EU, RUSSIA AND THE SHARED NEIGHBOURHOOD
The newly established network will be submitting a panel proposal (or two if there is sufficient interest) to the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) annual conference at the University of Edinburgh during 1-3 September 2008. The focus of the panel(s) will be on the following areas:
1. EU and Russian foreign policy towards the shared neighbourhood region covering the former Soviet republics of the Ukraine, Belarus, Baltic States, Moldova, the Southern Caucasus and the Black Sea region;
2. EU and Russian bilateral relations with states in this region;
3. Areas of common interest, cooperation and tensions between the EU and Russia eg energy, security, the environment and trade.
This list is not exclusive and other areas of interest are welcome. Contributions could look either at the EU or Russia in isolation or be comparative.
The intention is to produce a special issue of Europe-Asia Studies based around the papers presented at the BASEES and UACES conferences during the 2007/08 academic session.

The deadline for UACES panel submissions is 14 December 2007 and we would appreciate responses by the end of November.
