Languages in Context: Histories and Futures of Modern Language Study in Britain

The autumn 2009 series seeks to identify the broad cultural pressures which led to the establishment and development of the modern foreign languages as disciplines in British universities. Contributions from scholars in French, Russian and German will serve as platforms for discussions aiming to contextualize current institutional agendas.
